On the evening of the first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" John 20:19NIV
After that first Easter, after Jesus had been crucified; breathing His last breath on an old rugged cross; after He had been buried in a borrowed tomb and left for dead; after He arose, surprising all around that He had done just what He said He would do; Jesus walked into the room occupied by the depressed and fearful disciples, and told them not to be concerned; His presence was still their strength.
After this Easter, the year of our Lord, 1999, Jesus would say to you and me: He is still our peace! Two thousand years from the actual cross event; yet the cross is more a part of our life than ever before. The cross is more needed than it ever has been. Jesus is still the greatest gift the world has ever known!
Let's not let our worship of the risen Christ stop when the last candy Easter egg is gone (which in our case could be a while). Let us place all our trust and faith in Him today and evermore! Let's celebrate Easter the rest of the year and until eternity!
Jesus wants to be our Peace! Today and until He returns to take us home!
