I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
A Better Year, Part 5
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, January 01, 2004
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. Psalms 33:11 NIV

A couple of weeks ago I got some disturbing news. My first reaction was one of disbelief. I wanted to instantly try and solve the problem, but to be honest, I didn’t know how. Almost as quickly as the news had come, I seem to hear that “still, quiet voice” of the Lord that said “Trust Me”. I have heard those two short, but powerful words many times in my Christian life. It was the reminder I needed to continue with the business of the day.

You see, I still don’t know fully how the situation involving the news I received will turn out in the end. I know this, however, God is still in control and He is writing the final chapter...on this aspect of my life and on every other. Have you come to that realization?

Among all the wonderful truths Jesus spoke, there is one specific sentence of Jesus’ life that gives me great comfort. Jesus said, “Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.” (Matt 11:26) Jesus, in His humanity, didn’t always try to explain God’s will (Acts 1:7) and God’s will wasn’t always His immediate human choice (Luke 22:42), but Jesus always accepted and obeyed God’s will.

How are you at accepting and obeying God’s will for your life? As you face another year, will you accept the things God brings your way, even when they may not be what you would have chosen for yourself, recognizing that God really does know best?

When you and I begin to surrender our will to God’s will; when we start to take His agenda on as our own, we will begin to see great accomplishments in our Christian life. Let’s make 2004 an even better year as we learn to be pleased with the Father’s will!

Happy New Year, and let's start looking for "great things He has done" and is doing in 2004!
